The UK Gets a New 'Zebra' Crossing

A pedestrian crossing in Sutton Town Centre has been permanently painted in the colours of the transgender flag to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

10 days ago, on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, Sutton unveiled their second LGBTQ+ crossing - a crossing in the colours of the trans flag, and the first of its kind in the UK.

It is situated opposite Asda, near Marshall Road.

In Pride Month last year, Sutton added their first rainbow crossing - but they're not the only locations in the UK to have a rainbow crossing!

Such crossings can also be found permanently in London, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Coventry, Gloucester, Sheffield, and more.

Such a crossing is also expected in Bristol later this year.

Pride themed crossings are a great way to show inclusion to the LGBTQ+ community, and can help strengthen relationships between communities.
